I spent a few moment this morning (post Surf) holding a small rock by the shore.
a.) How hard it was (I slightly stubbed my toe on it initially!)
b.) yet how weathered it was by the effect of the water.

There was this super-hard object, yet it had been molded by the softness of just some water.

To me this is just like QUALITY training!
1. To be hard, you must be molded by softness!
ie. to really get the optimum effect into your muscle, you need a softness applied to your action.

2. Everything should be a harmony - with your muscles powerfully exerting optimum force, and the rest of you soft and in flow
a.) Visualize your favorite world-class performer - and how their performance looks 'soft' as they flow through their movement. (deep down their muscles are 'hard' and working super intensely)

it's the same for all your training. You need to develop the harmony with yourself to ensure the action muscles are working super intensely (hence will give you a muscled and hard physique) - but with a softness that ensure you are not pounding and damaging your body.

Met with Laird Hamilton yesterday (Mr Ocean) - what an amazing energy the man exudes, and an affinity with the Ocean.

Incredible to consider that basically the composition of the Ocean and our Blood is almost identical.
a.) Plus over 70% of the world's surface

Ocean's are an incredible network of systems flowing in wondrous harmony - balanced and beautiful. Ebbs of ferocious power with subtle smooth silk-like effects.

1. Why don't we mirror the Ocean more. As we've identified - we are basically the Ocean, and our environment is dominated by the Ocean!

2. Is your fitness harmonized and balanced?


I've already done my Pineapple workout today - and am now off for a Surf to further infuze harmony, balance and FUN.

Bigger is better - isn't it? Hell, I'm the "Big Kahuna" of Pineapple!

1. Well certainly not anymore now

2. I had a camera crew around today.
a.) Ultra professional - shooting some coverage for a major TV network on the new amazing Pineapple Orchard.
b.) Well they only had a number of tiny (hand-cam) style cameras! I asked them if that was sufficient!
c.) They laughed - as they knew I was alluding to the BIG film cameras - i was expecting to see.
d.) "These shoot far higher QUALITY" - they stated. (Although they did share that when shooting some 'movie-stars' - some of the stars requested they only shoot with the BIG cameras.) - (needless to say - these were the 'pretend' super-stars.)

3. Anyway - as you can see it's not the size it's the quality.

4. This is super prevalent in the fitness world
a.) It's not how BIG a workout is - It's the QUALITY

5. Similarly the size of a muscle doesn't correlate with it's total size and function either.
a.) The QUALITY of the muscle is THE most important factor (unless you want to be a bodybuilder)

I think everyone likes winning - or certainly says they do.

1. The key fact with winning - is there is always a loser aswell

2. Thus - by the nature - it has to be some definition of competition

3. I think the secret - is not so much the "winning" as I believe it's a natural instinct that you'll always choose 'winning' over 'losing' - it's the love of Competition
a.) The enjoyment of challenging yourself.
b.) The excitement of some unknowns. The exploration to fresh territories in your mind & body. The confidence in your spirit to continue

4. You have to love the 'action' - the moments of competition.

5. I resonate with the oft-quoted phrase - "It's not the will to win, it's the will to prepare to win"

Do you want it? or Do you need it?

1. We certainly know alot of what we need.

2. But what you want overpowers what you need.

3. Emotion beating levels of logic.

Work with your internal powers. Work on getting stimulated and excited with things you want.

4. WHAT do YOU want?
a.) Want to enjoy fun times on the mountain (yeah- I had a fabulous time in the snow (first days of the season for me) this last w'end)
b.) wanting to have a funtastic time in the mountains will beat your need for stronger legs and midsection - (We have incredible 15 min SNOW-Prep bootcamps on the mo here at Pineapple)

5. Get deep with yourself. Challenge and ask yourself what you want.

6. I know you know alot of what you need, but that hasn't inspired you YET.
Get funky with yourself - c'mon - jazz it up.

I'm really excited for my first snow - this ski season tomorrow

We are all essentially 'creatures of habit.' We love the safety net of a repeated pattern. However we yearn for change (as long as it benefits us!)
In a training-sense, we subconsciously favor certain styles of workout (if they are a favorite)

1. Even in a disciplined manner that constructs a balanced training protocol - there is huge risk of oft-repeated patterns and the ensuing risk of overuse.

2. Remember the workout is the stimulus and the adaptation the result.
a.) hence we want variety and fullness of stimulus.
